2010-2011 Hockey Canada rules emphasis bulletin

Hockey CanadaEach year Hockey Canada chooses certain rules to emphasize to “continue to allow for improved skill development and positive hockey experiences”.

This year’s rules emphasis deals with checking to the head (which they define as contact physically or with a stick to another players’ head area).

“Deliberate checks to the head remain to be a major problem in today’s game. Concussions not only deprive players of playing time, they end players’ careers and can have long term effects.” Click here to read the full 2010-11 Rules Emphasis bulletin (PDF).

KC structures this program to develop elite hockey players to one day play for the KC PATS Midget AAA hockey team…

Flu.Flu Policies

Due to the recent H1N1 flu outbreak St.Charles would like to thank parents for keeping their children home when they are ill. Please ensure your child is healthy (more than 24hr without fever) before returning. If they are too sick for school they are too sick for hockey!

We at St. Charles take your child’s health seriously. It has long been an issue of children coming to hockey without their water bottles and they resort to drinking from teammates bottles. If your child does not have his/her water bottle they simply will not be permitted onto the ice. The water bottle is considered a piece of their equipment like a helmet or mouth guard.

St. Charles has purchased a water bottle for each player in our club and they will be distributed shortly. Please ensure your child’s NAME is CLEARLY marked on the bottle and it is cleaned after each use. Read the rest of this entry »

St. Charles water bottle policy

Everyone has heard a great deal about the upcoming flu season, so we’ve brought in two new rules regarding water bottles that will help curb the spread of flues and other sicknesses.

  1. There will be no sharing of water bottles allowed in any circumstances.
  2. Bottles with long spouts on the end will no longer be allowed.

Coaches will be doing their best to remind players of these new rules, but we are also asking parents to do their part and help out by ensuring that your child is aware of these rules and by replacing any of the water bottles with the long spouts.

For more information on H1N1 prevention at the rink, please click here to view a memo from the EMHA (PDF format).
