President's Message

Sep. 03, 2020

Welcome, everyone, to the 2020/2021 Hockey season. As this season is going to pose challenges for everyone, we wanted to send out our plan to the club so that everyone has the same information. We will be starting the evaluation process next week. We have made 3 groups in each age category, and your directors will be sending them out shortly. Each group will have 2 free skates and 3 evaluation skates. Once the evaluation process is complete, your child will be placed into COHORT groups of 9-11 players. I want to stress these are not teams, just cohorts groups designed to practice and play together. Once we have our cohorts made, they will be placed into larger cohort groups (max of 50) and given schedules and start the development portion of the season (player development, Small area games(5v5,4v4,3v3), etc). Our goal is to fill this season with individual and group skill development as well as competition through frequent, modified games.

As the season progresses, we will be following directions from Edmonton Minor Hockey. Once Hockey Edmonton announces the start of regular season play, we will form full teams. If players need to be moved cohorts for any reason, we can move them following the return to play guidelines. I can't stress enough how important it is to keep players home if they are not feeling well as well as following the social distancing guidelines for both players and spectators in the stands.

For more detailed information, I encourage you you read the most recent return to play document from Hockey Edmonton.

Specific questions can be directed to your category director:

Thank you all and see you at the rink soon!
